Deck & Design – We specialise in installing quality builds that last.
We take pride in the standard of our workmanship and the materials and construction methods used in our projects. Our installation guarantee is designed to give our customers confidence in the structure and workmanship of their deck.
This guarantee applies to the installation and supporting structure constructed by Deck and Design and is separate from any manufacturer’s warranty supplied with decking boards or other products.
1. Guarantee Period
The guarantee period begins on the date the deck installation is completed.
Timber UC4 Subframe
Decks constructed using a UC4 treated timber subframe are covered by a:
6-year Deck and Design installation and structural guarantee.
Recycled Plastic Subframe
Decks constructed using a recycled plastic subframe are covered by a:
6-year Deck and Design installation and structural guarantee.
Aluminium Subframe
Decks constructed using an aluminium subframe are covered by a:
10-year Deck and Design installation and structural guarantee.
The guarantee applies to the workmanship and construction of the elements installed by Deck and Design, subject to these terms and conditions.
2. What Our Guarantee Covers
Our guarantee covers defects arising from the workmanship or construction of the deck, including, where applicable:
Where a valid claim is accepted, Deck and Design will, at its discretion, repair or rectify the affected workmanship or structural element.
3. Normal Weather and Environmental Conditions
A deck is an outdoor structure and is naturally exposed to changing environmental conditions.
Our guarantee takes into account normal and reasonably foreseeable effects of the UK outdoor environment, including normal seasonal changes in temperature, moisture, rainfall, frost, sunlight and normal ground movement.
Where an issue occurs as a result of the way the deck has been designed or installed to deal with normal environmental conditions, this will be considered under our installation guarantee.
However, the guarantee does not cover damage caused by exceptional or unforeseeable events outside the reasonable control of Deck and Design, including major flooding, exceptional storms, subsidence, landslip, structural movement of the property or other catastrophic ground or environmental events.
Where a project is specifically designed for challenging conditions, such as a riverside or flood-risk property, any agreed design criteria and limitations will be documented as part of the project specification.
4. Decking Boards and Manufacturer Warranties
The decking boards themselves are covered by the manufacturer’s warranty, where one is provided.
The manufacturer’s warranty is separate from the Deck and Design installation guarantee.
Deck and Design does not provide the manufacturer’s product warranty and does not replace, extend or alter the manufacturer’s terms and conditions.
Customers should retain their product documentation and warranty information.
However, this does not remove or limit Deck and Design’s responsibility for defects in our own installation or workmanship.
Where a decking product is found to have a genuine manufacturing defect, Deck and Design will reasonably assist the customer in identifying the appropriate manufacturer warranty process.
5. Product Selection and Installation
The guarantee assumes that the deck has been constructed using the materials and installation methods specified by Deck and Design.
Where a customer requests an alternative material, construction method or installation detail against our recommendation, any resulting limitation to the performance or warranty of that element will be identified and agreed in writing before work begins.
6. Ground Conditions
Deck and Design will design and construct the supporting structure based on the ground conditions reasonably identifiable at the time of installation and the information available to us.
The guarantee does not cover movement or failure caused by:
Where ground conditions present a known risk, these will be discussed with the customer and, where appropriate, additional engineering or specialist solutions may be recommended.
7. Alterations and Work by Others
The guarantee may be affected where the deck or supporting structure has been altered, repaired, dismantled or interfered with by anyone other than Deck and Design without our prior written agreement.

8. Maintenance
Customers are expected to follow any reasonable maintenance and care instructions supplied by Deck and Design or the relevant manufacturer.
Failure to carry out reasonable maintenance will not automatically invalidate the entire guarantee, but Deck and Design will not be responsible for deterioration directly caused by neglect, misuse or failure to follow reasonable care instructions.
9. Damage and Misuse
The guarantee does not cover damage caused by:

Any suspected defect should be reported to Deck and Design as soon as reasonably possible after it becomes apparent.
The customer should provide:
Deck and Design may need to inspect the deck before determining whether the issue falls within this guarantee.
Where a defect is found to be covered, Deck and Design will arrange an appropriate remedy within a reasonable period.
11. Transfer of Property
This guarantee applies to the original customer who contracted with Deck and Design.
Where the property is subsequently sold, the guarantee may be transferred to a new homeowner subject to written notification to Deck and Design and confirmation of the remaining guarantee period.
Deck and Design reserves the right to require reasonable evidence that the deck has not been altered or materially damaged before confirming a transfer.
12. Relationship with Consumer Rights
This guarantee provides additional protection to the customer and does not replace or reduce any statutory rights the customer may have.
In the UK, consumers have statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. These rights are separate from, and may provide stronger protection than, a shop warranty, manufacturer’s warranty or this voluntary installation guarantee.
In particular, consumer services must be carried out with reasonable care and skill under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. The Act may also provide remedies where a service does not meet the required standard or where information relied upon by the customer is not fulfilled. (GOV.UK)
Nothing in these terms is intended to exclude or restrict rights that cannot legally be excluded or restricted.
13. Scope of the Guarantee
This guarantee applies only to the elements of the deck that are specifically constructed and installed by Deck and Design.
It does not provide a guarantee for:
The guarantee period and specification applying to the project will be confirmed in the customer’s quotation or contract.
14. Our Commitment
At Deck and Design, we believe that a deck should be designed as a complete system rather than simply a collection of decking boards.
The supporting structure, foundations, materials, drainage, ventilation, fixings and installation methods all contribute to the long-term performance of the finished deck.
Our installation guarantee reflects our commitment to building outdoor spaces that are designed and constructed to provide many years of service.
