This raised decking project in Banstead transformed a restricted outdoor area into a safer, more spacious and private place to relax. By extending the existing footprint, widening the staircase and adding decorative privacy screens, we created a far more practical connection between the bungalow and its garden.
Our client contacted us after seeing examples of our work on Facebook and learning about our experience with Millboard’s premium composite decking products and raised deck construction.
Following a detailed site visit, we identified an opportunity to extend the deck beyond its previous footprint. This created enough room for a generous seating area while also allowing us to improve the access between the deck and garden.
The original staircase was particularly narrow, so widening it became an important part of the new design. The broader steps are safer and more comfortable to use, while giving the completed deck a more balanced and welcoming appearance.
The raised position of the deck made privacy from neighbouring properties another important consideration.
Decorative screens were selected to provide greater seclusion without making the seating area feel enclosed. Their patterned design allows natural light to pass through while adding an attractive architectural feature to the deck.
Combined with the premium Millboard decking, the screens help create a comfortable and stylish outdoor space with plenty of room for seating, entertaining and enjoying the garden.
