We replaced a badly deteriorated timber deck with a durable split-level Trex decking system, using contrasting colours to define the numerous steps and make the different levels easier to see.
The existing timber decking had rotted away and needed to be completely replaced. With several changes in level across the design, one of our priorities was to make each step clearly visible while creating a more attractive and practical outdoor space.
We chose a two-tone design to emphasise the edges of the decking and visually define the steps. This helps people navigate the different levels more easily, particularly when approaching the staircase or moving around the deck.
For the main deck boards, we installed Trex Transcend decking in Island Mist, complemented by a contrasting Gravel Path picture-frame border. The darker edging clearly defines the shape of the deck and makes every step much easier to distinguish.
We completed the design with a contemporary glass balustrade featuring stainless steel posts and a matching stainless steel handrail. The glass panels provide essential protection around the raised areas without interrupting the view, giving the finished deck a clean, open and modern appearance.
