A hardwood deck Is only as strong as its subframe
The visible boards may receive all the attention, but the foundations and subframe determine how well a hardwood deck will perform. We assess the ground conditions, drainage, ventilation, structural loading and required span before designing a support system appropriate for the site.
Our experience includes building raised, split-level and waterside decks, as well as replacing structures where poor airflow, inadequate drainage or unsuitable materials have caused the subframe to fail long before the boards should have done. This practical knowledge helps us specify the right foundations, joist spacing, fixings and structural materials from the outset.
